Training
Expert TrainingCustomized for your dog
Our expertise lies in retriever training, specializing in both upland and waterfowl hunting. We have a focus on pointing labs, but our training extends to various retriever breeds, including golden retrievers, Labrador retrievers, Boykins, and others. Clients have the option to enroll their dogs in training programs tailored for AKC and APLA hunt tests.
Our Training ApproachWhat to expect
I employ a method centered on rewards and establishing healthy boundaries with the handler. Balancing obedience and prey drive is a key focus, ensuring that your dog not only learns but also enjoys its role in the field. I introduce pressure gradually, always prioritizing controlled situations to avoid confusion and complications in the training process.
Training Basics
Upon receiving your dog, the initial month or two focuses on fundamental exercises. For prospective participants in my program, I can provide pre-training homework, expediting the process and potentially reducing long-term costs. Weekly updates are standard, and while photo and video updates are available based on time constraints, your dog's progress remains a top priority.
Goals & Timeline
The duration of training varies based on your specific goals. For those seeking a solid foundation for a skilled hunting dog, the typical duration is around 3 months. However, if your aspirations include upper-level hunt tests and national titles, the training period may extend up to 3 years. Each dog's journey is unique, and the timeframe will align with your individual objectives.
Facility & Equipment
Our state-of-the-art training facility is fully climate-controlled to ensure your dog's comfort. Each dog is provided with a Kuranda bed and their own dedicated kennel space. During transportation, I use Ainley equipment designed for both impact collision safety and the utmost comfort for your dog. For realistic training experiences, I incorporate real birds, fostering a positive attitude toward the ultimate goals. I have yet to shoot a wild bumper while hunting!
Dog wellness
All dogs at my facility must be up-to-date on vaccinations. If needed, I can schedule vaccinations and provide transportation. Flea, tick, and heartworm medication is covered as part of your bill. These medications are non-negotiable due to our geographic location. They also ensure your dog's well-being during training.
Visits
Visitation is not only allowed but also encouraged. I understand that your dog is a member of your family and the challenge of being away from them for extended periods. You are always welcome to visit and witness firsthand the care and training provided in our facility.
Pricing
Our pricing is set at $850 per month. This transparent approach ensures that you know exactly what to expect. If you have any questions or would like further details, feel free to contact us. We're here to provide the best training experience for your dog.
